The River Dee flows through Chester. Depending on what you fancy, you can either relax and take in the scenic views on a tour with Chester Boat or if you want something more energetic for the thrill seekers why not take part in some kayaking or paddle boarding down the rapids with Dee River kayaking

Set in the beautiful Cheshire countryside why not check out The Ice Cream Farm. The kids will LOVE the huge ice cream parlour and all the play facilities, set in beautiful surroundings and a welcoming atmosphere.

Amazing…

Chester Zoo is such a fantastic place to visit, home to over 35,000 animals from all over the world, including elephants, giraffes, tigers and penguins. There are daily talks, interactive exhibits, play areas – a great family day out. Don’t miss it!

Two thousand years of heritage make Chester a delight to explore. Take a visit to the Deva Experience (“Deva” is the roman name for Chester).

Unique shopping…

Wander through the Rows which are unique medieval shopping galleries, two-levels of a mix of independent shops, boutiques, and cafes. Chester is such a great place to shop, dine, and soak up the historic ambiance.

Be entertained…

Watch a play at the open air theatre. This summer you can enjoy The Great Gatsby and A Midsummers Night Dream. Or relax with a blanket under the stars at the moonlight cinema.

Looking to relax…

Spend a sunny afternoon at Grosvenor Park, a beautifully landscaped grade II* listed Victorian park dating back to 1867, which has been awarded a Green flag award and covers 20 acres with avenues lined with trees, statues and large sweeping lawns.

Enjoy a stroll and a picnic on the beautiful river side meadow.

Both the Grosvenor Park and Meadows are within easy strolling distance of Edgar House.

History…

Visit the impressive Chester Cathedral, a remarkable architectural masterpiece with a rich history. Marvel at the beautiful stained-glass windows, take a guided tour, and climb the tower for panoramic views of the city.

Mystery…

A summer visit this year wouldn’t be complete without seeing one of the Chester Mystery Plays. The plays depict biblical stories and are performed by a cast of local volunteers, a truly unique cultural experience for the whole family.

Racing…

Just a short walk from Edgar House you will find Chester Racecourse, where you can experience a thrilling race day. Experience the excitement of the sport and soak in the lively atmosphere of this historic course.

Adventure…

The Crocky Trail is an adventure playground and great fun for families. It features a variety of challenging obstacles, slides, and mazes, as well as nature walks and picnic areas.

For yet more fun, share adventures and make memories at Delamere Forest, enjoy brilliant water adventures at Wild Shore and sail at Manley Mere.

What about a Jurassic adventure, a hot air balloon fiesta, show jumping or free style motor cross? Check out nearby Bolesworth

North Wales…

If you have any time left, don’t forget that Chester is the gateway to North Wales and Snowdonia with a huge number of adventures, all within easy daily touring distance. 

After all that fun you’ll need to eat. Within walking distance of Edgar House you’ll find a huge number a great cafes, bars and restaurants, including the super new Chester Market. However, you are spoilt for choice, with some of Chester’s best listed here.
