Edgar’s super luxurious and quirky interiors offer a wonderful blend of tradition, bold contemporary design and modern comfort.
The fabulous large open plan kitchen, dining and living space is perfect for entertaining. Relax in the cosy library / snug or play until your heart is content in the fun filled games room (air hockey, table football, darts and a juke box).
Enjoy a night at the movies in the wonderful cinema / TV room, which is equipped with Sky / BT sport and internet connection for streaming your favourite films from your Netflix or Amazon account.
Edgar’s modern kitchen is gorgeous and very well equipped. However, if you don’t feel like cooking we will recommend some of Chester’s best restaurants (see our Guide to Chester) or introduce you to one of our amazing private chefs who will cook up a treat for you “at home” at Edgar!
Seven luxurious ensuite bedrooms sleep up to 14 people. Three of those bedrooms have super king size beds and four offer zip/link beds for added flexibility. One of the bedrooms (the Copper Suite) has its own lounge with a small sofa double bed, taking the maximum house capacity to 16 if required.
In summer months dine outside on Edgar’s spectacular river view patio, once described by renowned travel writer Alistair Sawday as “Chester’s equivalent of the Royal Box”. There is plenty of outside seating to eat, drink, sit back and relax whilst listening to the river Dee flow over the tidal weir.

OUR Chester GUIDE – The Very Best of Chester
Given the photographs on the website, we went to Edgar House with very high expectations. It’s fair to say that this stunning property exceeded those expectations. It has been tastefully refurbished in a unique and contemporary design, and certainly has the wow factor…All of the bedrooms are en-suite and all are large. There was no fighting over who got the best bedroom, they are all fantastic. The large L-shaped kitchen/living/dining area is a great space where we could all comfortably enjoy each other’s company…The picture and sound in the cinema room are of high quality and that was a nice place to go and get some quiet time to watch some Christmas movies. The games room was also a nice place to escape to, particularly for the younger members of the group. The house was in the perfect location for us...In short, a stunning property in an enviable location - we absolutely loved it.Paul J
We were all blown away by Edgar House. The refurb has been done beautifully. Everyone commented on how comfortable the beds were and the quality bedlinen! As a group with ages from 5 - 80 everyone had space whether playing air hockey in the games room, reading quietly in the library or watching a movie in the cinema room - perfect. The kitchen was well equipped and the chefs among us found everything they needed. There was plenty of tableware and two dishwashers so we didn't run out. (Grandpa fell in love with the coffee machine and ordered one for himself!!) The location couldn't be better - everything was walkable. Chester is a wonderful City, fantastic choice of restaurants and great shopping. The fitness enthusiasts were able to run every day along the City wall and even ran to Wales on occasions!!Jenny D
"I just thought I’d send you more thanks for managing our stay at Edgar House last week. All our family and friends who joined us to celebrate our Diamond Wedding are back home, but they’re all still buzzing about what a great time they all had, exchanging photos etc. It really was a brilliant week for us all, and largely thanks to the superb quality of Edgar House. It definitely exceeded our expectations, despite them already being very high before we arrived.
You were so helpful in allowing us flexibility in arrival and departure timings, in instructing us on all the house details, and answering our queries. Not to mention greeting us on arrival with two bottles of excellent fizz, and your yummy homemade cakes - which didn’t last long!
I’m actually feeling quite homesick for Edgar House; we settled into a comfortable routine there very quickly, and so the week seemed to pass quite slowly - great. Thus I’m hoping I can help our friend who was there with us to persuade her family to book the house for her 80th birthday in about 16 months time. Then I’ll maybe get to visit it again!
So, again, many thanks from us all, and all best wishes."
“Thank you for your email; all of our family and friends really enjoyed a wonderful and relaxing weekend at Edgar House. The location is stunning and unbelievably convenient. The electric car charging point was much appreciated. You made us feel welcome as soon as we arrived, and it was really lovely that you’d organised eggs, bread, apple juice, and even baked for us. My husband was very touched by the birthday card! The house is beautifully decorated, and was spotless. Everyone commented on how well chosen the books and magazines were, as well as the high spec kitchen and gigantic picture frame in the dining room that was actually a television and was used for a quiz! The movie room was a big hit.
The nicest comments were about how relaxed our friends and family felt getting up in the morning to the sun beaming in and the sound of the river below. It was a like a home from home, but far better! Thank you again, as first impressions matter and your welcome made such a difference. Please take care of yourself and hopefully, we will see you again for another celebratory get together in one of your homes.”Syeda A
